I am writing a historical fiction novel taking place in the Congo and in about 15 minutes I wrote this.?

"Khaliq when he was young had his entire tribe killed by the Europeans and he is the only survivor" - That is a good starter for the plot. You could expand on this by maybe having him brought up by some distant relatives, and then discovering the special powers he inherited from his tribe when he goes away to school and learns how to use them.
