Is Chinese a hard language to learn, any help appreciated!?

I'm so tired of everyone telling me that japanese is so cool. To me, that whole culture is kind of emo and suicidal, what with the harakiri, kamikaze, Toyota accelerators getting stuck and what-not. Anyways, I am bi-(working on tri) lingual, but this would be my first Asian character kind of language. I would like to add that I heard nouns are unconditional, which sounds sweet. Their culture and the resilience of their people is amazing, and as is the fact that they pretty much run the world. Thanks hombres.
