I'm asking this question because recently the son of a Catholic friend of mine did very well in his exams and was offered unconditional places at Glasgow and St. Andrews Universities to do the same courses. The lad chose Glasgow on the pretext that it would cost too much too keep him in lodgings at St. Andrews. Yet, given that St. Andrews is a more prestigious university than Glasgow I am wondering if there was perhaps another reason for this young man's choice.

I have bad stomach pains when my upper body is vertical.?

I felt fine laying in my bed, when I stood up I had severe pain. Sittin in my computer chair I have to slouch forward in order to not feel the pain as bad. When standing up the pain is really bad, I can only stand for about a minute or so before I have to squat down and aleviate the pain. Obviously the first sign is gravity causing some tention somewhere. I have a fairly strict diet, I run 6-12 times a week and weight train 4 days a week, work in a warehouse. I have no issues with going to the bathroom, nor acid reflux.

Help on an animal I saw yesterday..?

Yesterday I went for my usual 30 minute walk. I live in the countryside and from our house to the main road there are country lanes and fords/rivers. Well when I walked down to the ford I walked onto the bridge and lent over to look across to the fields and when I looked down I saw something moving in the water. At first I thought it was a small log but realised it was crawling rather than drifting! So I went onto the road to see what it was. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen and looked almost like a lobster but half the size and brown. It crawled like one and had pincher's too. You should dye over the blonde parts, whatever color you put over it, will make it bold, and you should dye the brown, a darker color, so you have a dark base, but bright highlights-it grabs attention, but if your not into the funky dyes, keep the blonde, and dye the base, or you should just dye all of your hair, the blonde highlights, will make pretty lighter prisms and tones! ot dye the bangs black, with the base burgundy, or a nice deep vampire red! Oh and all you have to do if yo ujust want to dye the bangs is pull the bangs up and put foil under them, add the dye, then wrap the bangs with the foil, blowdry it after a while to get better results, and wash it out after a while, but wash it seperately from your base color.

I have one lavender bush that is growing and two that aren't. Any advice (continued)?

I recently posted a question about planting 3 lavender bushes. One is growing beautifully and the other two not so much. I was given some good advise and good acticles to look at but I still have some questions. I checked the two that aren't doing so good and both still have full green stems with the grayish dried looking blooms. Some stems are green at the bottom and turn brown and woody towards the top and grayish through the bloom. Others are all brown and woody. Since both still have a good amount of green stems, could just be in shock? If so, should I cut off the brown stems or what can I do before I fertilize them to help them out? Will they come back next year better and I just have to be patient through this year while they acclimate? Drainage is good and all get the same amount of sun/shade during day.

INMHO a christian university is not the best option for you.. apply to schools that you can see yourself going. especially in a christian school some have mandatory bible cles and church sessions and they will press faith on you like no tomorrow. It may not be the best option but really think this one over. I could not do it. I am a christian.. but I cannot see my self at a religious university. they are over the top.

Last evening I applied Sargents Gold Flea and Tick to my two dogs(one rat terrier and one Chihuahua mix, I applied according to the directions on the package. With in an hour both dogs were sick. The Rat Terrier had itching so bad that she was rolling on the floor finding anything to rub her back on. We realized she was having a bad reaction to the 'medication' and bathed her immediately. We noticed the Chihuahua licking the air a lot but at first we were not too concerned and took both dogs to bed. About ten minutes later I noticed a giant wet spot on the bed, my dog was drooling everywhere, I went and bathed her too. Thats when I got on the internet to look up this thing that was POISONING my dogs! It turns out I am not alone, not even close! I read the posts that I found and they all said wash the dog with dish soap to remove the chemicals, I re-washed both dogs with that. Both were still showing symptoms horribly itchy and restless refusing to settle down, like they had invisible things crawling on them, my chihuahua still drooling and vomiting foam. Finally at about 3 am, nearly 7 hours after application they finally went to sleep, although I think it was just from exhaustion. The Rat Terrier woke up still violently itchy and miserable, but happy to say she seems better this evening although she seems to have a strange foot twitch still affecting her. The Chihuahua after some watered down chicken broth to restore fluids seemed okay by morning. A very scary night, we are just hoping that there is nothing long term with the leg tick. Please do not use this product on your pet, it is dangerous!! Any one else have a similar story to share about this awful product?

Okay, I'm currently in the middle of surgery, operating on an arm from a pitcher, damaged during a game. I really need help on this extended Brachioplasty. Sure, it requires more clamps and there's a bigger chance of clotting and I've never been good with a Pre-looped Intracorporeal Knot, and the possibilities of infection, hematoma, and seromas make me a little nervous, yet the end result could be better or if I go the Fantorgous lateral procedure, it could create issues down the road with the Infraspinatus and teres minor swelling that could require more surgery. Do you think I'm using the apropos technique for this particular surgery?

I had a hysterectomy in the spring, no complications. At my six week checkup, my GYN said that I was healed and could resume normal activities including . A week later, after my husband and I had , my intestines came out and I had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. I was hospitalized for 5 days and now have chronic pelvic pain. Verizon internet speed effects comps and xbox system?

Ok, so.. Iv done some research over the past week or two trying to find out why my Verizon internet connection has such problems. This is what iv learned...At random times seemingly undefined by a schedule or pattern, my internet speed will slow, sometimes to a halt for seconds and even hours. This happens both when i am the only one on the net and when i am sharing it with up to 3 others. Both the computer connected to the modem and the ones connected through a wireless network seem to experience the problem. Even when i connect my xbox 360 through Ethernet cable directly into my modem my latency goes unchanged. simple Youtube videos can take minutes to download befor being able to watch them as a whole where as they should take seconds. And playing my xbox live is a very unpleasant experience as i cant even play on par with others as im always two seconds and several steps behind everybody else. Its truly frustrating on a level i cant explain. So having these net problems i figured id go to the source. I called verizon tech support and the best they could offer was that i reset my modem (continually) until it works as i want it to. This feels like a waste of time but i do it anyway, praying for a solution. They ure me (in broken english with harsh Indian/Israelite overtones) that there is no cap on my broadband usage and that according to the tests that they do on my connection it seems to be running at maximum capacity supplying me with only the fastest and powerful internet connection. They insist its a problem with the xbox itself or the information i have given it to connect to their network as all my ports are open and the firewall is turned off. So i call the xbox tech support. After several hours of trouble shooting they ure me its not my game console but a problem with my internet connection. So i began trying things to help the connection like the aforementioned Ethernet cable to the xbox. I also moved my wireless modem closer to the xbox, reset it repeatedly and changed all the info on both verizon.com (ie: NaT settings, firewall settings and so on) and my xbox like the IP address. All of this to no avail... At this point i began to believe it was verizon itself and their crappy service so in desperation i went online to several websites that told me my download speed and upload speed were both way below normal where as my connection to this crappy stream of internet was fine, all five bars full. So this leads me to believe that its the net itself that verizon is supplying me with. not my modem or my connection strength or my xbox or anything in between. Here lies the problem, is there anyway to up my speeds without changing service or paying more for "faster" speeds from verizon? For that matter am i being ripped off for spending good money on a connection that's flawed and slow? Why when it does work does it work well, and then not work at all? Why not a steady flow of decent internet, instead of sometimes great, sometimes eyeball popping terrible? I cant seem to pinpoint the problem but im tired of working on it alone swimming through countless websites trying the generic answers and listening to hours of on hold "music" from verizon to do a few minutes of "Reset it.... does it work now?"and back on hold. So to recap, my net sucks, verizon blames my xbox. xbox techies blame verizon. my internet works sometimes but i cant put it to a pattern and its not storms or others using my net. its also not the connection itself as i always have great connection, just terrible speeds. Ok, so I was walking my dog today and he likes to go to the irrigation pond near my house and watch the frogs jump in the water. =) well today when we were there, we saw a yellow bellied slider out basking (about a foot long). I got about 3 feet away from it and just watched it, the poor thing must have had a rough life, it is missing an eye AND has a fish hook embedded into the left side of its head. I felt so bad for it that I went to go grab it and try to help it, but as soon as I got close enough to grab it, it bolted back into the water and as it tried to submerge, it just floated back up. Killer Blood Parrot Cichlid?

Blood Parrot Cichlid "Gimpy", she is my oldest Parrot and is the most dominate of the tank, well if she doesn't like a fish..she will kill it, unfortunately the kissing guarmi must have been pestering her and she ended up killing it. Gimpy has already taken out a few of the Tiger Barbs that pestered her, and now the kisser! It seems the only fish she likes is the Angel, my other female Blood Parrot, and my 3 Jellybean Parrots. She likes any fish that leaves her alone. My question is, has anybody who have Blood Parrots ever had this problem? Getting rid of her is not a possibility as I have grown very fond of her, even though she is killing pestering fish...I also want to introduce a young Blood Parrot and was thinking about possibly choosing one that is shy so that it would leave her alone.
